Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, more commonly known as a "nose job", is a fairly common facial cosmetic surgery that helps to change the shape, size, or appearance of your nose. Considering that this is a highly personal operation, it is important that you communicate your goals and needs to Dr. Cohen as clearly as possible.

To help you have an idea of what to expect, Dr. Cohen will show you other patients' before-and-after photos for similar nose jobs that you're looking for.

What to expect

There are two primary types of nose-reshaping operations: reduction rhinoplasty to make your nose smaller, and tip rhinoplasty to reduce the size of the tip of the nose. There are other nose procedures that are typically performed on an outpatient basis.

Incisions are usually made within the internal nostril region in order to avoid a permanent, visible scar. The cuts are made in such a way that the skin of the nose can be "undraped" or opened to access and reconstruct the inner structures of the nose.

Any adult who's not happy about the appearance of their nose can change it surgically. Most patients feel that their nose is:

  • Too big
  • Too small
  • Too wide
  • Too narrow
  • Crooked - twisted or deviated
  • Drooping at the tip
  • Bulbous at the tip - prominent nasal tip
  • Deformed - due to a nasal injury or trauma, or
  • Has a bump on the bridge - dorsal hump

A nose job might also help to correct nasal airway problems, such as those associated with a septal deviation or internal valve collapse.

Whatever concerns you have about your nose, rhinoplasty may help achieve the look you desire and improve your confidence. Please visit Dr. Cohen to discuss your nose reshaping goals.
